Speech Contest – Second Place (out of two :) )

Well, it was actually an evaluation contest. The evaluation was for a speech by Lisa S. entitled “Animals have Something they want you to Know.” She employed a number of animals kingdom examples such as alligators who assess birds’ behavior, elephants who bury their dead, and bovines who prance in the fields when set free on reserved land. The gist: animals are a lot more human-like than we may recognize.

The evaluation had specific rules, such as not being able to see the evaluation of the previous contestants, having 5 minutes to prepare a presentation after the speech, and having a set time to present the feedback, which was assessed by the judges.

This was my first evaluation for Park Center Toastmasters and I enjoyed diving in the deep end by having it in a judged contest.
